{Solved} One or More Network Protocols are Missing on This Computer

1381

The One or more network protocols are missing on this computer Windows 10 is an error that mainly occurs due to the Windows Sockets registry entries that are needed for network connectivity. The error is caused when the entries are missing. That then causes Windows Network Diagnostics to report this error to you.

The error only shows up when your system fails to connect to the internet, and then you click the Diagnose button. In most of these cases, it is the inconsistency in Windows Sockets API or Winsock that is the cause of this problem.

Winsock is responsible for the network requests of the programs, both incoming requests as well as outgoing requests. This issue can also be originated from your Internet Service Provider. Now, the error is not on your internet provider if the internet’s working fine on all of your other devices connected to the same Internet Service provider. Then we can confirm the error is with your system and continue with the troubleshooting steps.

Method 1: Disabling IPv6

The Internet Protocol Version 6 or (IPv6) is the successor to Internet Protocol Version 4 or the famous (IPv4). There are only a very few networks that support the newer IPv6; many network administrators argue that it is much better to disable this newer protocol until it is completely phased out to all networks, which it eventually will. Now, the main reason why IPv6 was developed is to cover the shortage of the current IPv4 addresses as the internet will soon run out of IPv4 addresses.

Note: Microsoft does not recommend disabling IPv6. But we think it is a better way to resolve your issue, and if you still want to disable the IPv6, then you can do this by using the following method.

How to Disable IPv6 via Network Adapter Properties:

1. Press the Windows Key + R. And Type in “ncpa.cpl”, then Click OK.

ncpa.cpl
ncpa.cpl

2. Right click on your current network adapter and then choose Properties from the options.

3. Uncheck the option “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)“ and then Click OK.
